To Enable Gbirthday in Unity:
Open Terminal and Execute the following code:
$
gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist
"['JavaEmbeddedFrame', 'Mumble', 'Wine', 'Skype', 'hp-systray',
'gbirthday']"
As far as i know, there is no straight Birthday Reminder in Ubuntu. But there is actually a way to have birthday reminder.
In "Ubuntu Software Centre" search for "Gbirthday" and install it. But you CAN'T add any birthdays to "GBirthday"
Open "Applications -> Office -> Evolution mail and Calender"
Click "New -> AddressBook" and choose type as "On this Computer".
Now again click "New -> Contact" add the contact details and birthdays. If you add "GBirthday" to "Startup Applications", it nicely on the taskbar for birthdays :-)
if anybody knew a straight forward Birthday Reminder pls inform me..
